Jim Corbett National Park is the oldest national park in India and was established in 1936 as Hailey National Park to protect the endangered Bengal tiger. It is located in Nainital district and Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand and was named after hunter and naturalist Jim Corbett.
The Terrain
Corbett National Park comprises 520 Square Kilometers area of hills, riverine belts, marshy depressions, grasslands and a large lake. The elevation ranges from 1,300 to 4,000 ft (400 to 1,220 m). Winter nights are cold but the days are bright and sunny. It rains from July to September. The park has sub-Himalayan belt geographical and ecological characteristics.

01 : OPEN JEEP SAFARI
Jeep safari through the dense green forests and grasslands of Jim Corbett is one of the best ways to explore this dense and widely spread national park. It is located about 22 to 25 km from Ramnagar by road while going to Nainital. Tourists can see it from a safe distance, without entering its waters; as they might be infested with snakes and crocodiles.
Corbett Waterfall is surrounded by dense teak forest, which in turn increase its beauty. The sound of falling water lightly on the ground, mixed with the melodious chirping of birds, just makes the perfect natural music that a nature lover would like to hear for sure.

Jim Corbett is a Heaven for trekkers, who love exploring forests and wildlife by foot, trekking. Trekking is not allowed in the core areas of the park, but you can go trekking in the park’s reserve forest area, especially around the tiger reserve.
Sitabani is the ideal place for trekking, as this is a densely populated forest area where you might find elephants, tigers, jackals, deer and even monkeys; who keep evolving close in the hope of food from tourists. No eatables are allowed in the forest. If you go to the park in winters, don’t forget to wear winter wear. to keep yourself warm; as it gets very chilly at night. Try to wear green clothes, so you can blend in with the forest and explore the most without getting discovered by the animals. Also, wear comfortable walking shoes.
